Title: What Shapes Our Lives? Evidence on Health, Work and Wellbeing in India
Abstract: The lecture will draw on three studies: qualitative research on girls’ pathways from school to work in Bihar, a quantitative analysis of maternal education and child health across different health-system conditions, and a rapid review of STI/HIV vulnerability among adolescent girls and young women. The lecture will share findings and research experiences to explore how families, social norms and public services shape health and employment opportunities. The discussion will also reflect on the findings’ relevance to wellbeing, practical decisions involved in conducting research and questions that remain unresolved.
